Axiom presents Mischievous Muse

The Axiom String Quartet returns to the Throne Room, performing the "Mischievous Muse," telling the story of artists' inspirations behind their masterpieces  An artist's muse may come from nature's beauty or life's story (joyous, tragic, or romantic).

The program, uniquely designed for presentation in the cave, explores the fabulous cave acoustics. The repertoire includes selections from Ernest Bloch, Paysages (Landscapes) for String Quartet; Bedrich Smetana, String Quartet No.1 From My Life; Leoš Janáček, String Quartet No. 2 Intimate Letters; and Ludwig van Beethoven, String Quartet op.59 No. 3.

The Axiom Quartet is a passionate and dynamic string quartet committed to presenting meaningful performances to wide audiences in Houston Metro area and beyond. 

The group experiments with bringing their individual music performances to unconventional venues as well as traditional concert halls. Trademarks of Axiom Quartet’s performances are the unique, diverse programs, combining different styles of string quartet repertoire under a specific theme, which is presented in an artistic and meaningful format.

The quartet is currently The String Quartet-in-Residence for the Music Preparatory School at the University of St. Thomas. The group hosts  regular concert series at the University's Cullen Hall.
